Millbrook started today. I’m not there, in case you were wondering. I’m pouting about it. I feel a little bit like a spoiled brat throwing a temper tantrum, but I really wanted to go!
Savannah, the third working student, was supposed to stay for a month but she left a week early due to family drama-nonsense. Which meant that Jess went to Millbrook without a groom so that I could stay and help Jordyn at the farm. It’s light work. With Jess gone we have far less to do. We’re also down to fifteen horses instead of twenty-two, which makes everything so much more manageable.
But that doesn’t make me any less upset about not getting to go to Millbrook! I was going to get to stay in a cottage! I would have been in New York again! I loved it there. More importantly, it is Bug’s first Advanced of the season, and I really wanted to be there. I didn’t even get a chance to show Jess how to do his quarter marks!
Ugh, listen to me whine. You’d think I was a little kid.
It’s really quite nice here right now. I get to jump Jess’ horses while she’s away. We’re selling Cole as a hunter so she told me that I was in charge of his training since she doesn’t understand hunters. He’s fabulous. I love riding him, he’s really the perfect hunter. I’ve also had time for some extra projects I’ve been meaning to catch up on, like re-stitching boots and pulling manes and tails.
Even better, tomorrow is my day off. Since Jess was getting ready for Millbrook on Tuesday, I had to work. Based on the schedule of horses to work and chores to do, we got Friday and Saturday off. Jordyn desperately wanted Saturday so she can go to the beach with her newest boyfriend, so I get tomorrow. I have quite a list of errands to get done, so it should be a pretty exciting day.
